Projects

Logistics and Processes for Carbon Transport from Source to Storage, KTH, Stockholm, Northern Lights Project; Industrial Partner - Stockholm Exergi.

  • Process design was done using ASPEN Plus. The mass and energy balance for the liquefaction of purified carbon dioxide was based on the Linde-Hampson process.
  • Storage design, mass and energy balance of purified carbon dioxide was done for tank sizing and loading pure carbon dioxide onto a cargo ship. Determined the optimum temperature and pressure for carbon dioxide storage and transport.

Improve the Efficiency and COP of the Ammonia Refrigeration System, RIL, Surat, India,

  • Worked with the Central Technical Services Team of Reliance Industries Limited-HMD to improve the efficiency and coefficient of performance of an Ammonia Refrigeration System used in PBR-III petrochemical plant.
  • The process parameters and safe operating conditions of two 450TR twin-lobe open type oil-injection cooled screw compressors in the refrigeration package were studied.
  • A template that calculates values of COP and efficiency based on the live process data fed to it by ASPEN IP-21 package was created.
  • The template calculated the energy that could be saved by altering a few process parameters without causing any disturbance in the normal plant operation.
