Toms Rubīns

As a 4x4 Off-Road Driving Instructor, I combined my passion for cars with my love for off-road adventures.

Although this role is more of a hobby than a full-time job, it taught me to think quickly in challenging situations and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people from around the world.

I explained the rules of off-roading in detail and demonstrated proper driving techniques, conducting driving lessons for tourists and teaching them the operations of a vehicle.

I provided feedback on their performance and offered advice on areas needing improvement, while also demonstrating driving strategies to prepare them for real-world scenarios. Additionally, I guided drivers to become more aware of their surroundings while operating large vehicles through unconventional terrains, honing my skills in both teaching and cross-cultural communication.

At SIA Ideju Foto, I was a photographer with primary responsibilities that included capturing professional portraits, reportage, and group photos, mostly for various educational institutions like schools, kindergartens, and universities. I ensured that all equipment was functioning properly before shoots and set up camera control equipment, stands, and tripods.

Additionally, I set up lighting equipment and backdrops for photo shoots.

I also managed sales and negotiations, coordinating terms and conditions with the management of these institutions.

In this role, I photographed between 100 to 1,000 individuals daily across Latvia, consistently meeting tight deadlines. This experience has taught me to work efficiently and effectively in high-pressure environments.

I edited photos using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, performing post-production tasks such as retouching images and organizing digital files into clearly labeled folders on hard drives and cloud storage systems.

I also collaborated with graphic designers to create promotional materials for photography services and advised clients about suitable poses and angles for their photographs.

Throughout the entire process, I communicated effectively with colleagues, managed customer relations by responding promptly to inquiries or complaints, and worked to boost client satisfaction with the final results.

My first job was with SIA Santehnikas Resursi, a well-established company specializing in plumbing equipment and heating systems. I initially joined to create a catalog for the shop to fund my studies independently. Upon completing this project, I was offered a permanent position as a sales associate. Over the span of five years, I progressed from this entry-level role to the position of General Manager for my shop. This experience was instrumental in teaching me valuable skills in customer relations, financial management, and business operations. As General Manager, I was responsible for employee motivation, expanding the product range, preparing and participating in procurement tenders, and attending industry seminars to stay updated on the latest developments. I also created and analyzed monthly financial summaries, always striving to achieve new goals and drive the company's success. This role laid a strong foundation for my professional growth and understanding of the business world.

I began as an intern at Dirty Deal Cafe, a vibrant cultural center, and quickly transitioned to a full-time Public Relations Specialist for the entire working season.

My role involved managing media relations and enhancing the center's public profile to attract and engage audiences. Additionally, I was responsible for creating content for press releases, articles, newsletters, and other marketing materials. I also engaged in communications with various artists to promote a wide range of events, including music concerts, theater performances, movie nights, and exhibitions.
